minCord 5 overview

The minCord 5 is the smallest system in the Rausch minCam family: a 13 mm KK13 camera head on 50 ft (15 m) of flexible push cable, with the 5 in. sunlight-readable screen, recorder, and battery built into one hand-carried unit. It enters 0.6 in. (15 mm) bore and turns 90° bends from 1 in. (25 mm), which puts heat exchanger tubes, boiler tubes, P-traps, and small drains within reach of a single technician without a reel system.

Why the minCord 5

  • 13 mm head, 0.6 in. (15 mm) minimum bore. Fits the 3/4 in. and 1 in. tubes in shell-and-tube exchangers, chillers, and boilers that no reel camera can enter.
  • 90° bends from 1 in. (25 mm). Pushes through P-traps and elbows in small drains and process lines.
  • Three-frequency sonde (33 kHz, 512 Hz, 640 Hz). Works with the locators crews already own so the head can be found under a floor or slab.
  • 5 in. sunlight-readable screen, recorder, and battery in one housing. Records video and still images to SD card with a distance counter; USB and BNC outputs for transfer or an external monitor.
  • 5 to 7 hours per charge. A full shift of tube checks on one battery.
  • Pressure-tight to 1 bar (14.5 psi), so the head can go into wet lines and standing water.
  • German-engineered Rausch build with a fiberglass push cable that holds up to repeated bends.

Will the minCord 5 fit heat exchanger tubes?

Yes, any tube with an inside diameter of 0.6 in. (15 mm) or more, which covers most 3/4 in. and 1 in. exchanger and chiller tubes. Check the tube ID against 15 mm before ordering; AIT can confirm fit from your tube sheet drawing.

How is it different from the minCord XL?

The minCord 5 carries 50 ft of cable with the 13 mm head and a 5 in. screen. The minCord XL carries 100 ft, uses a 7 in. screen, and offers an 18 mm head option and WiFi.

Is this a borescope or a pipe inspection camera?

Both, in practice. A rigid or articulating borescope reaches a few feet into an opening; the minCord 5 pushes 50 ft of cable through bends, records with a distance counter, and carries a three-frequency locator sonde (33 kHz, 512 Hz, 640 Hz) so the head can be found from outside the pipe.
