MC50 overview

The minCam MC50 is the general-purpose pipe inspection camera in the minCam line: 200 ft (60 m) of 9.2 mm push rod, a self-leveling 55 mm KK55SL head, and the detachable 8.4 in. control unit, on a stainless steel and carbon frame that one person can load. It covers most building drain, plant process, and municipal lateral work from 3 in. to 16 in., and a 300 ft (90 m) version is available for longer runs.

Why the MC50

  • Self-leveling KK55SL head. The image stays upright through every bend, so the crew reads clock positions and defect locations straight off the screen and the report.
  • 200 ft (60 m) of 9.2 mm push rod, with a 300 ft (90 m) reel available. Enough stiffness to push through 3 in. (80 mm) bore 90° bends and enough length for most lateral and building work.
  • 55 mm head, pressure-tight to 10 bar (145 psi). Works in flooded and surcharged lines.
  • 512 Hz location sonde in the head. Standard locators find the camera from the surface for marking and excavation.
  • Detachable 8.4 in. sunlight-readable control unit. Distance counter, recording, and stepless light control stay with the operator, not the reel.
  • Records video and stills to SD card with distance stamp. Text generator available as an option.
  • Interchangeable heads. The smaller KK29SL runs on the same reel for 1.5 in. to 6 in. lines.
  • 2 to 3 hours per charge on the internal battery, or run on AC.

Choose the MC50 if

Most of your lines are 3 in. to 16 in. and 200 ft or 300 ft of reach covers them. If you also run 1.5 in. to 6 in. laterals on the same jobs, the minCam MC50 Duo adds a second reel with the 29 mm head. For 425 ft runs see the minCam MC80, and for a head that looks into joints and laterals see the minCam MC360 pan and tilt. Browse all pipe inspection cameras AIT supplies.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I order the 200 ft or the 300 ft reel?

Order 300 ft (90 m) if your runs regularly pass 180 ft from the access point. The 200 ft reel is lighter and easier to carry through a building. Both use the same head and control unit.

What pipe sizes and bends does the MC50 handle?

3 in. to 16 in. (80 mm to 400 mm) with appropriate centering skids. The KK55SL turns 90° bends in 3 in. (80 mm) bore and larger.

Self-leveling or pan and tilt: which do I need?

Self-leveling keeps the picture upright while you push and is the right choice for straight-down-the-line condition surveys. Pan and tilt lets the operator aim the camera at joints, laterals, and the pipe crown, which matters for lateral reinstatement checks and defect close-ups. The MC50 is self-leveling; the minCam MC360 is pan and tilt.
