• Borescopes:


A borescope is an optical device consisting of a rigid or flexible tube with an eyepiece on one end, an objective lens on the other linked together by a relay optical system in between. Borescopes are used for inspection work where the area to be inspected is inaccessible by other means.

• Rigid Borescopes:


Rigid borescopes are similar to a fiberscope, but are not flexible and generally much cheaper and provide a superior image. Rigid borescopes are therefore better suited to certain tasks such as inspecting automotive cylinders, fuel injectors, hydraulic manifold bodies and rifle bore inspections. A rigid or flexible borescopes eyepiece may be fitted with a coupler lens to allow the borescope to be used with imaging devices such as a video or CCD camera. Rigid borescopes generally provide a superior image at lower cost compared to a flexible borescope, but have the limitation that access to what is to be viewed is a straight line.

• Fiberscopes:


A fiberscope is a flexible coherent fiber optic bundle with an eyepiece at one end, and a lens at the other. Fiberscopes are used for inspection work, often to examine small components in tightly packed equipment, when the inspector cannot easily access the part requiring inspection. Image quality varies widely among different models of flexible borescopes depending on the number of fibers and construction used in the fiber image guide. For flexible borescopes, the advantages are that they are able to bend or flex around tight corners and typically the distal end of the flexible borescope will articulate to inspect a wider area. Fiber content in in a flexible borescope is critical to provide the highest possible resolution to the viewer. Minimal quantity is 6,000 pixels while the best images are obtained with higher numbers of fibers in the 15,000 to 20,000 range for the larger diameter borescopes.

• Videoscopes:


A flexible Videoscope or Video Borescope is an advanced type of borescope that houses a very small CCD chip embedded into the tip of the scope. A traditional Borescope use hard optical relay components to transfer the image from the tip to an eyepiece and Fiberscopes use coherent image fiber optics to relay the image to one's eye through an eyepiece. The image quality of a videoscope is superior to a fiberscope. Videoscopes are normally 8.0 mm or less in diameter and come in lengths up to 50 ft. Videoscopes offer a much greater degree of features that fiberscopes or borescopes. Digital image capture or recording is typically built into a videoscope. Videoscopes also have the capability to measure defects, record audio and add text to images.

• Push Cameras and Pipe Cameras:


A push camera is a straight view camera at the end of a semi-rigid push rod. Push cameras or pipe cameras easily inspect 3 inch diameter pipes and larger for distances up to 300 feet. A push camera or pipe camera head contains adjustable LED lights, flexible "goose-neck" for getting around corners. Push cameras or pipe cameras are typically used to inspect long industrial lines or pipes that can hundreds of feet long. Push cameras typically have the capability to record digital images for later review of the inspection.

• Infrared Sightglass, Infrared Window & Infrared Ports:


An infrared window, infrared viewport or infrared sightglass allows a thermal imager or infrared camera direct line of site to inspect electrical cabinets and other systems without having to open the enclosure to the environment. Infrared windows, Infrared viewports or infrared sightglass come in 2”, 3” and 4” viewable diameters. These Infrared windows, Infrared viewports or infrared sightglass allow thermographers to inspect electrical equipment without exposing themselves to ‘live electrical components” and help comply with the recommendations of NFPA 70e. The use of Infrared windows, Infrared viewports or infrared sightglass in any thermography program eliminates the risks associated with live inspections by ensuring that thermographers are not exposed to any energized components.

• Videoscope Rentals & Borescope Rentals:
