  • AIT Adds New Industrial minCam Push Camera Family

AIT is pleased to announce the addition of the minCam push camera family to our extensive line of remote visual inspection products. The new minCam push cameras are extremely portable and designed for industrial inspections. Choose from 4 different configuations to best meet your inspection requirements. There is the Ultra portable MC15 frame which is perfect for use in small and confined spaces such as mud drums, heat exchangers, chillers, Boilers and more. The MC30 / MC30Duo push cameras have a compete selection of interchangeable camera heads to inspect pipes as small as 15mm diameter and as large as 200mm. For the larger pipes (up to 400mm) there is now the MC50 / MC50Duo and MC80. Now you can perform a wide variety of pipe inspections, loose parts retrievals, turbine clean outs and tank and vessel inspections.

    minCam Push Camera Family

The minCam is available with the ultra portable MC15 frame. The MC15 can utilize either a 13mm (1/2") camera head or a 18mm (3/4") camera head. The MC15 includes a 30m (100') push rod cable. The MC15 push camera has a very small profile and weighs only 6.9kg (14.9 lb.) The MC15 push camera is the most portable industrial grade push camera available anywhere.

The MC30 is a slightly larger frame, but still very portable and easy for one person to transport. The MC30 is available with either a single or double push rod. 13mm (1/2"), 18mm (3/4") and 29mm (1.1") interchangeable camera heads are available for the MC30 push camera system.

The MC50 can include 60m (200') push rod cable and a 55mm (2") camera head. The MC50Duo is available with a second interior push rod that can utilize either the 18mm (3/4") and 29mm (1.1") camera heads. The MC50 also includes an 8" TFT LCD with keyboard in a clam shell protective case.

Finally there is the MC80 which includes 130m (425') of heavy duty push rod cable and the KK55; 55mm (2") camera head. The MC80 minCam push camera is the best solution for larger jobs that require inspection over long distances in larger pipes. Also included is the larger 8" TFT LCD and the frame includes wheels for easier transportation.

  • Remote Visual Inspection At Boiling Water Reactors

Remote Visual Inspection (RVI) equipment such as videoscopes, video borescopes, pipe inspection cameras and remotely operated vehicles (ROV) can be used for a variety of inspection requirements during outages at Nuclear Power Plants. Here are some examples of inspections that can be performed remotely using videoscopes, video borescopes, ROV's and pipe inspection cameras. Foreign Object Search and Retrieval is another common function performed during outages.

Foreign Object Retrieval or Foreign Material Exclusion (FME) utilizes equipment such as videoscopes, video borescopes, pipe inspection cameras and a range of foreign object retriaval tools to locate and remove items from plant system. Foreign Objects, loose parts and other material may become trapped inside piping, turbines, cavities, fuel pool and other difficult to reach areas. Areas that are common to remotely inspect during a plant outage ate Boiling water reactors include: Continue reading

  • Remote Visual Inspection Applications At Refineries

Oil refineries have multiple inspection requirements that videoscopes, video borescopes and pipe inspection cameras can perform. Refineries have many critical components that need to be functioning at peak performance and the only way to inspect some of these areas is with the use of remote visual inspection equipment.

Applications where videoscopes, video borescopes or pipe inspection cameras can be used to perform these critical inspections include: Storage Tanks, Gas Flares, Pipe Units, Cracker, Reformer, Fractional Towers, Spherical Tanks and Rail Road cars. All these areas need to be periodically check for cracking, corrosion, wear, proper alignment, pitting, cracking, corrosion, erosion, proper welding and other defects. Other common areas that need to be inspected with videoscopes, video borescopes and pipe inspection cameras may include: Reactors, Heat Exchangers, Boilers, Pressure Vessels, Pipes and Process Piping.

Remote visual inspection equipment such as videoscopes, video borescopes and pipe inspection cameras make it possible for engineers to safely and efficiently maintain and operate oil refineries around the world.

  • Micro Borescopes Inspect the Smallest Applications

Micro borescopes are typically used to remotely inspect the smallest application. Some remote visual inspection applications require access through tiny holes that are less than 2.0 mm (0.078 in). A micro borescope or mini borescope may be semi-flexible or rigid. Typically these small borescopes are limited in length and direction of view is 0° forward with the option for side view mirror sleeves.

These small inspection areas provide remote visual inspection professionals with many challenges. The access dictates the inspection requirements more than any other factor. The smaller the inspection area the more limited the choice of micro borescopes available and the number of manufacturers of these mini borescopes.  Finally, Due to the nature of a micro borescope, it is more susceptible to damage. Users need to be aware of the limitations of smaller diameter borescopes and fiberscopes and work within these.

    Applications for Micro Borescopes:

    • Engineering & Manufacturing. Micro Borescopes provide cost-effective examination of internal structures without tear down. A micro borescope allows engineers to check for pitting, cracking, corrosion, erosion, weld and other defects.

Micro Borescope Image• Quality Control. Micro Borescope instruments allow manufactures to inspect components for defects. Mini borescopes provide the ability to inspect internal components, bore holes, castings and other manufactured items such as turbine blades, automotive components, circuit boards, rifle barrels and welds.

    • Castings. Micro Borescopes can be used to inspect inside casting of engine blocks and other high quality casted components. Micro Borescope instruments as small as 0.5 mm in diameter and larger are offered to accommodate all casting inspection needs.
